Cuisine American
- 1 lb ground beef, lean
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cans (16 oz) cans of pork and beans
- ½ cup barbecue sauce
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic power
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional)
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper. Cook until the beef is fully browned and the vegetables are soft. Make sure to break up the meat as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
Stir in the pork and beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
Transfer the mixture to a 2-quart baking dish.
If you’re using bacon, sprinkle the cooked, crumbled bacon over the top of the beans.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
Let the beans cool for a few minutes before serving.
